Old Crow DETAIL

Old Crow,oil on cradled board, 9 x 12

This is a detail of my painting  Old Crow. The painting will be shown at CK Contemporary Gallery. Show opens May 16

This tin wind up toy represents one of the crows from the 1941 Disney animated film Dumbo. The toy was produced eight years after the film’s release to correspond with its 1949 re-release. It was produced in Japan, but under the Marx Toys.

This vintage toy is one of my favorites and has a place of honor on my desk next to my easel.

I love vintage tin wind-up toys. This cheery little big was begging to be painting. He looks ready to great the spring day emerging from the cigar box into the morning light.

This space gun is one of my vintage tin toys. I like ‘Setting the Stage’ in a box because of the light and shadows.
