A Perfect Mason by K Henderson

A Perfect Mason by K Henderson

A Perfect Mason, 30″ x 30″, oil on canvas

I’ve painted several small Coca Cola paintings this year and decided to create a larger Coke painting. My vintage Coke Bottle is joined by an Atlas Mason and a Ball Perfect Mason jar.

Yikes! This painting was a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be. The raised letters on each of the bottles required shadows and highlights on each of them.

The patina on the Zinc lid  added a contrast to the colorful shiny glass.

No Man’s Girl – Cowgirls!

May 26, 2014

No Man's girl

No Man’s Girl ,oil on canvas, 30″ x 40″

You gotta love Cowgirls! The title comes from the pulp fiction book cover in the background. Red is my favorite color and this painting has plenty of it!

The painting includes vintage ceramic cowgirls, a dog (or is it a coyote?) cactus, a six-shooter and an Indian blanket to keep the cowgirl warm at night.

Wings like a Doveby K henderson

Wings Like a Dove, oil on board , 9″ x 12″.

The painting shows light reflecting through a transparent glass dove. It is surrounded by colored marbles. I loved painting the light on the glass and the reflections on the surface.

Licorice by K Henderson

Licorice Allsorts, oil on cradled board, 16 x 20

I love licorice! Any kind, any where, any time. Allsorts is my favorite. Not only is it tasty but it’s also beautiful. It’s truly Eye Candy.

I enjoyed painting the glass lid. The abstract shapes of the reflections and highlights made it a real challenge.

double sealedby K. Henderson

Double Sealed, 24 x 12, oil on cradled board

This is my from my series “Toys in a Box” . I was interested in this composition because of the contrasts in the painting: the light and the dark, the shiny metallic seal and the flat surface of the wooden seal. One seal in confined in the box and the other is free with the floating ball.
