A Perfect Mason by K Henderson

A Perfect Mason, 30″ x 30″, oil on canvas

I’ve painted several small Coca Cola paintings this year and decided to create a larger Coke painting. My vintage Coke Bottle is joined by an Atlas Mason and a Ball Perfect Mason jar.

Yikes! This painting was a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be. The raised letters on each of the bottles required shadows and highlights on each of them.

The patina on the Zinc lid  added a contrast to the colorful shiny glass.

I have several old soda bottles (pop bottles) in my collection but have only used one in one painting. They have been on my list of Things to Paint  for well over 2 years. Why have I waited? They are so much fun to paint.

The green glass really sets off the pink straw. Expect to see more Bottle paintings in the near future.

Lets step into the Way Back Machine and go to our childhood days. After school we sit at the kitchen table, listen to the Lone Ranger on the Radio (or watch him on TV). We have a snack of CocaCola and a Hostess Cupcake. Yum!

To assist the Masked Man in his adventures we have our Pony Boy six-shooter, holster with horse head and genuine plastic jewel, Lone Ranger Comic, a Silver horse figurine, and Lincoln logs.

Life is good!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted because I’ve been  working on a painting, Coca Cola Cowboy, and it’s taken me longer to complete it than I expected. Since it took so long to paint it I thought I should take some time in posting it.

With that title, of course it has to have a Coke Bottle in the painting. I’ve had this bottle for some time now and finally got to use it in a painting. Wow! Definitely more complicated than I expected but I’ll be painting it again.
