July 27, 2009

marbles WIP

I’m getting paintings ready for a show in Santa Fe’s Gallery 822 on Canyon Road. These paintings are my American Indain work and can be seen on My Other Blog

In the mean time, here’s a painting I have put aside but hope to get back to soon. This painting of marbles and a ball jar is 9″ x 12″ oil on board

You’re the Tops – Oil painting still life

July 12, 2009

You're the Tops

You’re the Tops is a small painting, 8″ x 10″, oil on board.

The still life shows spinning tops, a marble, a block and jacks including a jack of hearts card (trust me, that’s what it is) These are sitting on a chess board

I’ve never done a still life quite like this. I was experimenting with sharp and soft edges. The items in the foreground are fairly hard edged while those in the back are softer. I’m pretty happy with my results but Edges are something I will continue to work on
